Strip of bobbin lace with two halved cartouches with a broad scalloped decorative border

Strip of natural-colored Brussels bobbin lace. The symmetrical pattern consists from the center of two placed side by side halved cartouches, of which the half-oval-shaped center lies against the top edge of the strip. The wide scalloped decorative border around it reaches to the bottom edge of the strip and is richly decorated with among others diagonal stripes and a straight downwards hanging iris or French lily. The pattern between the cartouches is not symmetrical, but outside that on both sides yes. This pattern consists of rosette flowers and scroll leaves in which elements from the cartouches recur in different ways. The motifs are connected by picoted plaited grounds. The motifs are made in linen stitch with cutouts and openwork edges and with net stitch fillings. Most motifs are provided with cutwork relief contours. Various decorative grounds are applied, including fine snowflake grounds and fine mesh grounds with square motifs in form stitch.
