About this work

Strip of bobbin lace, silver lace. The pattern consists of semi-circular shells formed by a fan-shaped motif with loops. The space between the two successive fans is, like the fans, filled by an up and down and winding double file thread that forms loops. Between the loops in the fans also lamé silver threads are used, these are missing in the intermediate pieces. The motifs are held together by a double thread, where the up and down and winding threads are woven between. The lace is from ecclesiastical clothing from Sicily.
