About this work
Commode decorated with marquetry in satinwood, ebony, walnut, coromandel and green-stained maple on an oak core. The corner posts have gilded bronze mounts. The marquetry shows a pattern running across both drawers. In the center, a medallion containing a vase with ram's heads and festoons. The top rail is decorated with hexagonal fields and rosettes. The projecting central section, hanging from the bottom rail, carries a copper ornament. The top is of grey marble (see BK-NM-15-A).
