About this work
On a base stands Mary with a bent left leg. She carries the half-lying Child, dressed in a shirt, on her right arm, whose right foot she holds with her left hand. Mary's hair tresses fall partially in front of her shoulders. She wears a wound pearl band on her head, a shirt visible at the chest and wrists, and a gown with a square neckline, hanging down to the bottom in a point. The mantle hanging from the shoulders is gathered under both arms and turned to the left. On the back the burned-in Mechelen city coat of arms: the three bars.
