About this work

The object cast in three parts, used as a travel icon, consists of a central panel with an upper piece and two side panels, on which relief scenes are applied. The central panel depicts the Mother of God with the blessing Christ Child (i.e., the Mother of God of Kazan); the side panels: the Entry into Jerusalem, the Presentation in the Temple, Christ in the Praetorium, and the Ascension of Christ. The upper piece shows the head of Christ (the Mandilion), three angels, and two seraphim.
