About this work

Chair of mahogany, upholstered in green pressed velvet, with a pattern on the back of a medallion surrounded by leafy scrolls, surmounted by a garland. In the medallion a man's head in profile. The square legs taper downwards; the rear legs splay backwards. The front rail is curved between straight corner pieces and, like the top rail, displays a laurelled man's head beneath a garland. The rails of the trapezoidal back are slightly canted.
