About this work

The oval box has a hinged lid and is decorated with oval medallions. On the front, the Dutch Maiden is depicted trampling Envy; on the reverse, Peace, surrounded by the coats of arms of the Kingdom of England and the Republic, with naval battles depicted around the edge in scrollwork. Inside, a pipe stopper is fitted.
