Flat Shoe of Goat(?) Leather with Decorated Front Panel Featuring Stamped Rosettes, Diamonds, and Waffle Patterns

Flat slipper. Model: consisting of three parts: the vamp, the heel, and a single sole. The vamp and heel are of goat (?) leather tanned white with alum. The sole is tanned 'in the tanner's way' with ochre. The sole is sewn to the upper with coarse stitches and thick rope. Decoration: the long vamp is divided into six horizontal bands, in which rosettes, diamonds, and waffle patterns are alternately stamped. The toe is undecorated and provided only with a narrow, incised vertical border. The vamp ends at the instep with an attached, folded double strip of leather, forming a kind of loop. Missing from one of the two shoes. The heel, consisting of two quarters, is decorated with an incised sowing motif.
