About this work

On the left and right, burning buildings in classical style. Between them running people. Between the buildings people run in panic. To the right of the right building unpainted glass; also the sky between the buildings is partly unpainted. Part of a series of plates that together form a diaphanorama of a burning Roman city and a watching ruler, probably Emperor Nero and the Great Fire of Rome.
