About this work

On an uneven square plinth the father kneels with his head bent forward and hands folded on his right knee, while the kneeling daughter with folded hands in her lap rests her head against his bent left leg. He wears a cravat over a waistcoat and a long coat, knee breeches, stockings and slippers. Next to him lies his hat on the floor and a purse hangs from his right pocket. She wears a headscarf, jacket, skirt and apron.
