Two Laughing Jesters

One figure sits on an overturned basket, three-quarter view to the right with head turned left; the other, with head in the same direction, stands behind him with bent knees, hands on his shoulders; both gaze in the same direction. They have round, smiling faces with open mouths showing tongues and teeth. The seated jester points forward with his right hand and holds a stick with bells (a whip with bells?) against his chest with the other. A wart is on his cheek. He wears a jester's cap with a decorated hem, from which bells hang, over a garment with narrow sleeves and a mantle with wide flaring sleeves, the right sleeve concealing a staff with a jester's head. The mantle covers his entire left leg but leaves the right leg with breeches free. The latter has a decorated band with bells below the knee, is gathered at the ankles, and falls over the boot.
