About this work

Pouch of purple velvet, with the municipal coat of arms of Schagen appliquéd on the front in silk and silver thread, provided with a wool drawcord and matching tassel. Model: elongated with a round bottom. Consisting of two equal pieces of velvet. At the top are 12 festooned holes through which a double, braided drawcord is tightened. Red cord with green tassel. Festoon stitch in beige thread. Lined with red-dyed goatskin. Decoration: on the front a partially scalloped appliqué representing the municipal coat of arms of Schagen. On a ground of silver or gilded silver thread is a shield of silk containing a rose of metal thread. The armed man in armor with a feathered helmet is embroidered in multicolored silk with contours of metal thread.
