About this work

Fragment of a strip of natural-coloured needle lace, Venise plat. Pattern with richly branched curling vines with small diverse flowers on an irregular open ground with one-sided picoted spindles. Full work with twisted festoon stitch with various motifs through cut-outs. The upper side was originally edged with a border of bobbin lace, this finish is missing due to damage. The underside is finished with a straight picot border with loops.
