About this work
The object is composed of the following cast and engraved parts: the base, the two wings, and the two young birds. The base is ornamented on the front and back. The pelican holds its wings spread and pecks at its breast. The young birds, also flapping their wings, hold their heads directed toward the pelican's breast. Image of a pelican. Refers to a group of pelican with two young birds, see also BK-NM-9443-b and c. The group symbolizes the Christian faith.
