About this work
William III's Bible table, 1874. For many Protestants, the House of Orange was above all their own Protestant House. King William III received this table in 1874 to mark the 25th anniversary of his reign. It was intended to be used as a Bible lectern. The inscription "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and for ever" is a quotation from one of Paul's letters (Hebrews 13:8).
