About this work

Demonstration of the use of hose fire engines by pumping water from the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal and spraying it over the Town Hall (1672-1673). The caption explains the letters A-E in Dutch. Above the print, a second sheet with text was printed. The print is in two pieces, cut and reattached with a strip on the verso. Plate 22 in the reprint of Jan van der Heyden's Fire Engine Book of 1735. Subject category within the Atlas Amsterdam: Municipal Works: A. Fire Brigade.
