Memorial medal awarded to the on-duty citizens of Amsterdam, in memory of the stay of Prince Willem IV in Amsterdam on 11 and 12 May

Silver medal, 2nd size. Issued on the order of the Amsterdam government to the officers. Obverse: Amsterdam city maiden in the guise of Minerva with breastplate and helmet with plume, seated next to an orange tree full of fruit to which she points, while resting her left arm on the city coat of arms and holding a spear with the cap of liberty on the tip. Further a burning altar, allusion to the offering brought for the privilege obtained that freedom and religion were secured now that the Prince was chosen as stadtholder. Exergue with name of the maker: MARME SCULPS(it). Reverse: crossed orange and palm branch connected with a ribbon, below: ON THE PASSING THROUGH/ OF HIS HIGHNESS THE PRINCE OF ORANGE/ AS ELECTED STADTHOLDER,/ GIVEN BY THE COUNCIL/ TO THE CITIZENS ON GUARD DUTY/ ON 12 MAY 1747.
