Portrait of the Leiden baker couple Arent Oostwaard (Arend Oostwaert) and Catharina Keizerswaard (Catharina Keyzerswaert) with various types of freshly baked bread (rolls, crackers, kadetten, duivekater) in front of the bakery. In the bakery door, a boy blows a horn to let people know the bread is ready. According to an inscription on the back of the painting by Jan Steen, this is the painter's son, Thaddeus, at the age of 7. Grapevines grow above the door.
