About this work
Peasant trickery or trompe-l'oeil consisting of eighteen sheets with as background a wallpaper of red squares and yellow leaves. In the middle a 'print' with a man holding an inverted wine glass in his hand, below it a four-line inscription in German. Left the print 'Two cows seen from behind' by Paulus Potter.
