About this work

Wedding print from 1724 with an allegorical representation of a marriage. To the right two Amors hang the alliance coat of arms in a tree. Mercury flies in the air above the bride and groom. At the bottom the motto 'Oppugnent alii, hic solus de corde triumphat'. In the foreground putti show rolls of textile to Minerva. To the left a water nymph. According to the inventory, this is a wedding print for a member of the Van Hooren family of Haarlem. Subject headings within the Atlas Zeden en Gewoonten: The Beginning, Middle and End of Man. Marriage and wedlock.
