About this work

Golden cup with a loose, wide bell-shaped lid (without a knob). The lid, the underside of the bowl, the stem and the foot are richly engraved with leaf motifs and decorated with white and black enamel. On the top of the lid a lion climbing to the left is depicted in enamel (coat of arms of Holland). The bowl is provided with a continuous frieze in colored enamel depicting the events during the Raid on the Medway, 20-23 June 1667.
