About this work

Arrest of Franciscan monks in a monastery in Bruges on charges of sodomy, 18 May 1578. Under escort of soldiers, the monks are led away from the monastery. Among them is the notorious Brother Cornelis of Dordrecht. At the bottom, a four-line text in Latin. Numbered in the lower left: 97. Subject categories within the Atlas of Customs and Manners: Government, Justice.
