Fair on the Nieuwmarkt in Amsterdam, 1844. On the left, a group of boys with a man operating a spinning wheel. In the center, a couple walks across the grounds; on the right, a stall with prizes to be won. In the background, a raised platform where artists promote their performance 'Cirque Olimpieo' with shouting and music. Multiple canvases advertise a horse act 'Oh Dassie Blanos' (Dassie & Blanus), the Menagerie of Willem van Aken, and a large child, the 'Revalenta Kind', a 'Natural Wonder'.
