About this work
A woman has placed her hand in that of a man. The man presents himself as an old Roma woman ('heiden' was a contemporary term for the Roma). He is completely wrapped in a large cloak, only his face and shoes are visible. To the right, behind a tree, a second man spies on the couple. In the background, along a high hedge, the entrance to a garden. Stands before the letter.
