About this work
Geertruy feigns sorrow as she bids farewell to her husband Filibert, who is going on a business trip. Filibert has just learned from his servant Joris, who is walking behind him, that Geertruy is cheating on him with his cousin. The maid Bely mocks Filibert as a deceived husband by holding two fingers like horns by her head. At the bottom of the margin, two four-line verses in Dutch and French.
