About this work
Geertruy feigns sorrow as she bids farewell to her husband Filibert, who is leaving on a business trip. Filibert has just learned from his servant Joris, who follows behind him, that Geertruy is cheating on him with his nephew. The maid Bely mocks Filibert as a cuckold by holding up two fingers like horns beside her head. A four-line verse in Dutch and French appears in the lower margin.
