About this work
Grand fireworks display to close the World Exhibition in Amsterdam in 1895. From the sky, a crowd of devils watches as Mr. N.A. Calisch is lifted into the air by two devils to receive a cross of knighthood, firefighters secure the deficit of 100,000 guilders, and an elephant blows the story. At the bottom, a subtitle and a two-line verse. Appeared in the supplement of 'De Kroniek' of 13 October 1895.
