About this work
Plate from the VOC ship 'Witte Leeuw', 95% present; parts of the wall are missing. The sherd is reddish-brown with much embedded dirt. The glaze is pale green. The underglaze is purple. The base is partially glazed and the footring turns inward. The footring is rounded and little kiln sand was found. The rim is unscalloped. The center is decorated with a pheasant among flowers and tendrils.
