About this work
A Dutch official (probably Philipp Franz von Siebold, chief physician on Deshima from 1823 to 1830) dictating a letter to a scribe. Beside him a Javanese (?) servant with a bowl and tray, a boy with a red cap, and a figure seen from behind with a saber and holding his hat (the deputy or medical assistant?). Signed.
