About this work

Fragment of a plate from the VOC ship 'Witte Leeuw', 45% present. The plate is composed of seven fragments. The sherd is glassy and contains little embedded dirt. The glaze is blue-tinted and has pinholes and small firing cracks at the corners of the rim. The glaze flakes off over parts of the rim. The base is unglazed. The footring is V-shaped, faceted, and curves inward. More than 20 grains of kiln sand were found. The rim is scalloped. Lamp plate.
