About this work

Plate from the VOC ship 'Witte Leeuw' with a flat rim and scalloped lip, decorated in underglaze blue, 98% present. In the center, luck symbols surrounded by a bracket-like band with stylized vines and geometric motifs. On the wall and rim, broad and narrow fields filled with luck symbols and flower branches. The cobalt and glaze in the center are partially burnt in the kiln and have chipped off at the bottom due to the influence of salt water.
