Pen drawing of a man, possibly Brandes himself, reading on the windowsill of presumably the VOC ship Stavenisse on the route Batavia - Ceylon - Cape of Good Hope. Above the man's head hangs, coloured, a bunch of bananas. Part of the sketchbook of Jan Brandes, vol. 2 (1808), p. 21.
