Flintlock pistol

Part of a pair. Made in Liège, but very Dutch. The lock is engraved with leafy vines, a branch, and a signature. A rib runs over the barrel; the rear part is engraved with leafy vines and a hunter in a justaucorps in 17th-century fashion, armed with a straight sword; marked underneath with three knobs in a triangle; no front sight. The burl walnut stock is simply carved. The iron furniture consists of two ramrod pipes, a trigger guard with borders, a special screwplate in the shape of a sea serpent with the twists in guilloche, an unadorned heart-shaped thumbplate; a butt cap engraved with branched foliage and a stepped butt plate; the ramrod of imitation burl walnut is fitted with an iron cap.
