Flintlock pistol

This pistol is part of a pair. The lock is decorated with engraved foliage and an inscription with the name of the maker; on the lock plate a mark is stamped under a heart. The barrel is stamped underneath with the coat of arms of Amsterdam, in contrast to 166-A which is stamped with two unidentifiable marks. The stock is probably made of beechwood. The brass furniture was originally gilded and consists of: two ramrod pipes with relief decoration; a screw plate with pierced vines, connected at the top by a bar; a thumb plate framed by acanthus leaves; an angular trigger guard; a butt cap decorated with a grotesque face mask; ramrod with cap.
