Flintlock pistol

Part of a pair. The lock is engraved with fauns, floral and leafy scrolls and a signature. The barrel is divided by two pairs of rings; marked at the rear with the coat of arms of Amsterdam, at the bottom with an eight-pointed star. The stock is simply carved with edges and foliage. The formerly gilded, yellow-brass furniture consists of two ramrod tubes, a round trigger guard, a symmetrical screw plate consisting of two twisting sea serpents, a blank, oval thumb plate with a grotesque mask above it and framed by leafy scrolls, and an unworked butt cap with long traces; the ramrod is fitted with a yellow-brass cap.
