Flintlock pistol

Part of a pair. The lock plate has a stepped tail and is engraved with foliage and a seated Classical male figure; signed. The round barrel has a rib at the front and a ring at the rear; relief-carved on the back with leafy vines around a grotesque mask as an intermediate sight; some foliage is also carved around the breech; brass front sight bead and a groove for the rear sight in the tail of the barrel; stamped at the rear with the city mark of Utrecht. The stock is carved with leafy vines behind the barrel and at the ramrod opening.
