About this work

Album leaf with seven photographs. Central view of the pheasantry in the Planten- en Dierentuin (founded 1864) in Batavia. Above three portraits of Javanese warriors, an Arab hadji, and a ruler; below three photographs of porters and street vendors. Part of the second green photo album with photographs of Java, formerly owned by pharmacist Specht-Grijp, who returned to the Netherlands from Batavia in 1865.
