About this work

Album leaf with six photographs. Central view of an animal enclosure in the Planten- en Dierentuin (founded 1864) in Batavia. Above three studio portraits of Javanese women; below a portrait and a street vendor. Part of the second green photo album with photographs of Java, formerly owned by pharmacist Specht-Grijp, who returned to the Netherlands from Batavia in 1865.
