About this work

Adam and Eve stand before the tree of knowledge in paradise. Eve is just taking the apple from the serpent. On the ground in front of Adam and Eve a dog and a hedgehog. In the background a deer and a lion. In the lower margin a two-line Latin text. Mirror-image copy after an engraving by Hendrick Goltzius from 1585. Reconstructed from three fragments. A part of the cord with which the prints in the Nova Zembla collection are bound together is still visible in this print.
