About this work
A rhinoceros, on the right a detail of the foot or footprint. Possibly based on the rhinoceros shot by Cloete near Klein Visrivier (Little Fish River). Drawing made during the second journey of Hendrik Swellengrebel to the northeast of the Cape Colony, 10 September – 26 December 1776. According to the travel journal, the rhinoceros was killed by P. Cloete on 1 November 1776.
