About this work
Oval sauce dish, the rim shaped as a quatrefoil. The high, upright handles are positioned on the long sides of the dish. Painted in underglaze blue with black and gold on the glaze. A broad band with strapwork and floral scrolls in blue and gold runs around the inner wall, and in the center, the coat of arms of the Swellengrebel family in black and gold: a French lily on an oval shield and a stag's antlers above a crown as the crest.
