Photo album with seventeen photographs on seventeen sheets depicting city views of Paramaribo, photographed by Selomoh del Castilho. The album contains photos of the Waterkant, the Gouvernementsplein, the roadstead of Paramaribo, the Watermolenstraat, the market at the Heiligenweg before the covering, the Keizersstraat, the Heiligenweg, the Saramaccastraat, the Lutheran church, the Great City Church of the Herrnhuters, the Neve Shalom synagogue, the Wagenwegstraat, and the Nieuwe Oranjetuin cemetery. The photos are provided with printed labels bearing the title. To this album of important city locations, an unsigned photograph has been added, likely made specifically for the commissioner. This photo depicts the house of the Van Emden family at Wagenwegstraat 81. The photo is signed and dated on the reverse '1868'. Bound in brown linen.
