About this work
Kwispedoor with a bulging hexagonal body and somewhat sloping, flared, wide hexagonal rim, while the low foot is also hexagonal and slightly flared. Decorated in underglaze blue, with a diamond pattern on the foot, three peonies and two butterflies on the body, and on the rim right a portrait of a man (Willem IV), bust in profile to the left, wearing the Order of the Garter, in a cartouche with a blue background. Inscription: W:C:H:F Proclaimed Stadtholder on the 3rd bloeijmaant Ao 1747.
