About this work
Coupe of Japanese porcelain in a bronze mount. The lavishly decorated mount consists of three parts screwed together. On the coupe, a polychrome decoration with three standing and two sitting women. Inside, a border of three scenes with figures, between which always a tree branch with a little bird. Dated; inside on the base: 5 Feb 1831. Inscription; inside on the base: Royal Navy / J C J Van Speyk / 5 Feb 1831 / For Fatherland & Monarch.
