About this work

Anna Susanna Thedens-Moerbeek was 23 years, 4 months and 18 days old when she died in Batavia. After her funeral, family members and close friends were each given a silver piring in her memory. Piring means plate in Malay. The more plates that were handed out, the higher the status of the family.
