Model of the Mortar Bed of a Bomb Sloop

Model of the cross-section of a ship, showing twice the construction of the support for a mortar carriage, on a stand with a baseboard. On one side, the construction is fully worked out and can be completely disassembled; on the other, it is only partially represented. The ship has two decks; under each mortar carriage, five catwalks are arranged in the hold, running from one side to the other under the deck beams of the lower deck. Between decks, two longitudinal walls are arranged of stacked beams, connected by dovetails, supporting the upper deck. The worked-out part is further entirely built up with beams and props, creating two chests in the hold; the whole is finished with a large number of added metal and wooden knees. This part is also detailed with the mortar on its pivot carriage. Parts of the deck must be removed to allow the pivot to rotate. The mortar is 6.8 cm long and has a 15 mm caliber. The other, unworked-out section is provided with the cover for the gun.
