About this work

Fragment of a ship's flag, almost the entire left half, with a red cross (St. George's cross) on a white background, and a double red-white checkered border. This flag is a 'Guinea Jack', flown by the English Royal Africa Company. This specimen was probably captured in 1665 from the fort Cormantijn on the coast of West Africa.
