About this work
Frame model with round timber on a stand. Smooth-sided double-banked barkas, round frame with nearly flat sheer and flat transom; a forecastle, seven thwarts and thwart-braces, and an open cabin with side thwarts. The stem is coppered and fitted with a disc. Three-part frames. Simple rudder with a tiller that fits over the rudder head. The rig consists of a large mast with a yard for a square sail and a mizzenmast with a gaff and sprit. The barkas is armed with a carronade on a loose sledge extending from stem to stern. Loose parts also include a hand pump, a boat hook, and sixteen oars. Scale 1:20 (derived).
