About this work

Hollowed-out block model on a stand. Smooth-sided double-banked barkasse, round-framed with a slight sheer and flat stern; a bowsprit, five hatches and an open cabin with side hatches, no rudder. Below the central hatch are two brass tubes through which heavy ropes pass the hull; these ropes are operated by two windlasses mounted on the same hatch. Two cannon barrels on sledges are suspended from the underside of the barkasse by these ropes; they are also supported by heavy ropes along the bow and stern and light ropes over the sides. Scale 1:20 (Obreen).
