Model of a Life Buoy

Model of a rescue device against a sloping wall. The device consists of a set of floats connected by a crossbeam with a vertical round pole in the middle. It is held against the wall with two guide rails through the crossbeam and is secured with a chain; the chain is released with a slip hook, which is operated with a rope through the wall, after which the device falls down along the guide rails and becomes free. The pole of the device has a fire plate on top for light-emitting fire. Just before launching, the fire is lit with a flintlock that is attached to the wall in a brass protective cap, with a pull cord that goes over a few pulleys through the wall. The lid of the fire plate, which protects it from moisture, is attached to the wall and remains behind after launching. In the lower end of the pole, a retractable iron rod with a round plate is installed, which extends as soon as the device becomes free.
